new knowledge

hay. habis minum kopi jadi jam segini masih melek. dan ini tumben tumbennya ngepost, ngetiknya pakai laptop. biasanya lewat hp doang wkwkw

this evening was quite productive and I did an open eyed thing, read oil palm magazine. karena hampir setahun ini lagi berkutat dengan water management in oil palm plantation. dan sekitar tiga hari lalu my colleague asked me to write an article for the palm oil magazine :)) interesting, isn't it? dari SMP sampe kuliah selalu ikutan ekstra kulikuler majalah dan pas kerja pun masih bisa nulis, apalagi dibidang yang di geluti. it is an honor, sir. thanks for give me this opportunity. but then, it is not easy, moreover I should write it in English. yaa even masih melewati editor tp kan tetep terbatas jg kalau mau berkata-kata. terlebih sasaran dari majalah ini adalah orang diluar teknis, orang orang yang concernnya bukan ke water management, jadi bahasanya juga sebisa mungkin bisa diterima mereka. dan the other challenge is this article will be also as an advertisement. jadi ya bahasanya kudu nge-encourage people to aware about their water management in their plantation :")

okay. ngomong ngomong soal oil palm plantation, their struggle is real. apalagi sekitar 10 tahun terakhir ini banyak gerakan dari NGO yang mengatakan bahwa oil palm plantation adalah penyumbang dan pemeran utama dalam kerusakana hutan. bayangin aja mereka per pohon butuh 400 liter air per day. crazeehh. They are quite lucky to grow their plantation in Indonesia or Malaysia which are the water is not a big problem (or they just didn't realized yet). as I read in the magazine their biggest problem (they are aware) is those negative issue about they destroying the forest... hmm  not water management. ah kecewa. kan we nge approach nya jadi susah. hahaha. and the second problem is about the workers, it is getting hard to encourage people to work in oil palm plantation. people prefer to go to the city to get a job. apalagi typical generasi Y dan millenials yaa, yang lebih mementingkan kenyamanan hidup. jadi ngerti kenapa workers jg jd one of the biggest problem for the oil palm company. karena bekerja di perkebunan kelapa sawit juga menyoal tentang mengorbankan kenyamanan hidup, jauh dari kota jauh dari tempat hiburan, even in their mess they already give them some facilities but it doesn't enough. what they need is not only facilities, gen Y need an existence. while if they work in the oil palm plantation which is in rural and isolated area they can not show their existence. benar apa benar? hahaha

based on the magazine I understand that they still rely on make-the-plantation-larger to increase the yield. while with the "NGO power" it is difficult.. more oil palm plantation = more destroyed forest. NGO's law. and I agree, honestly. haha the oil palm company still doesn't aware that they also facing a water management problem, which is if they can tackle this problem it might be boost the yield. Like what we found in the one of the biggest oil palm company concession. like 20% of their concession (which is "BIG" hectares)  is always flooded during the wet season. no wonder there is big river flow through their plantation. BUT the weird thing is they still try to plant it. and it always died. if they are lucky enough, it can be grew but it didn't produce the fruits. funny. they plan it, then flooded, replant again, flooded again. replant again. like thousands time, and they keep tryin :)) I appreciate their spirit. but it will be better if they solve the flood first, isn't it?

it is also happen to the other company, the big company in Malaysia.some of their plantation is flooded all the time. the oil palm doesn't grow as it should be. some of the trees produce the fruit but they can not harvest it because of the flood and they didn't have access to reach the trees. the funny thing is they know they have problem with flood but they don't want to solve it. yes they do not want their problem to be solved. funny!!!

seems like they prefer to against the NGO and rule and destroy the forest, you named it... rather than make their existing plantation more efficient. kuinginmarah :(  sedih adetuuuuu....

okay gaes sekian sharing knowledge untuk kali ini. it is based on my own experience and perception sih, jd maafkan apabila tak sejalan dengan pemikiran anda. kapasitas saya disini cuma bluffing water management engineer ya.wk
